Hi, I was just accepted on Saturday to University Park for engineering and I am currently in the midst of trying to decide a good housing option. Although there are mostly freshmen in the East Halls, I read online that aside from the ability to meet similar people, the East Halls really suck. West Halls, from what I have gathered, are an excellent choice and provide a nice balance. Can anybody else here weigh in on whether West Halls are an ideal choice for a freshman who won't be really partying? Thanks

I was wondering about the Pollack Halls too if anyone can discuss that if they have any experience there.

My son lived in the engineering SLO in West (McKee) for two years. The rooms were good-sized, the floors were coed, the food in West is reputed to be the best. The location is close to the engineering buildings and Rec Hall. It was quiet enough that he was able to study in his room. (His freshman roomie was able to find enough parties that he didn’t last in engineering.)

I think one of the best advantages to being in the West Halls as an engineer is the fact the engineering SLO is in the building, and it’s right next to the engineering buildings. However you’re freshman year you probably won’t have any classes in that building anyway, and your classes will be scattered around campus. West is a bit distant from the rest of the dorms and even a lot of classrooms so depending, you could have a good walk from your dorm to classes and vice versa, especially in 15 degree whether.

anyone have anything to say about pollock?
