How are these for physics?

How are these schools for physics? Or better yet, are any of these weak in physics?

Emory
CMU
UWisconsin- Madison
UIUC
Penn State
Case Western Reserve
Uchicago
Rutgers
Oberlin
Reed
Colby
TCNJ

Im also looking for schools with strong physics programs with similar selectivity to Skidmore, Bard or Connecticut College. Suggestions?

Thanks!

I am also interested in physics, and my first choice is UChicago. It is up there right below some of the ivies...one of the best. :-D I don't know about the others.

conn (which is MUCH higher in selectivity than bard) actually has a decent physics program considering its a pretty unknown LAC- i know of several people who majored in that and are in good phd programs right now.

I do not think Oberlin, TCNJ, Emory, or Colby are particularly strong in physics.

Schools with strong physics programs and similar to Bard, Skidmore, Connecticut Coll in selectivity:
LACs:
Bucknell
Lafayette
Franklin and Marshall
Bates
Reed
Macalester
Rhodes
Dickinson
Whitman

Universities:
University of Rochester
U Illinois U-C
U Wisconsin
U Minnesota
U Michigan
NYU
Georgia Tech
Case Western
Lehigh
Wake Forest
RPI
Penn State

Collegehelp: In fact Oberlin IS particularly strong in physics, as LACs go--it's small but first-rate. See the Overview and News pages from http://www.oberlin.edu/physics/.

Dave72-
I did not know that about Oberlin. Thanks for the correction.

are any of these schools strong in physics?

Union
Bard
Skidmore
Denison
Muhlenberg
St Lawrence
Occidental
Lawrence U

thanks!

Blah, on your orginal list, Chicago and UIUC have the best Physics programs, closely followed by Wisconsin-Madison.

Collegehelp's list is also pretty good.

bump567890

i found out skidmore is bad and lawrence is good for physics.

Union
Bard
Denison
Muhlenberg
St Lawrence
Occidental

is left

thanks

Perhaps Union is worth exploring further. They have an engineering program still, I believe, so there has to be a certain amount of physics faculty just to service the engineers. RPI is nearby, and perhaps there are some cross-enrollment possibilities for additional specialized courses. SUNY Albany as well.

I have no actual knowledge of their physics program; this is just my guess.
