Hi, so i'm transferring after I get my AA this semester, it's between UCF and FSU. My mom wants me to go to FSU because she believes that FSU is superior to UCF in my intended major of history/political science. She says there's more opportunities with FSU. I really want to go to transfer to UCF. So can anyone tell me how UCF's history/poli sci programs are?

We are having the same problem here

I’m not a poli sci major but I did take one 4000 level public policy class with Dr. Jacques. He was fantastic and got me really interested in policy. I’ve heard overall the major is “easy” but at the same time, my old roommate struggled her first semester despite having a passion for the topic. I know that probably didn’t help, but there are definitely engaging professors and lots of research opportunities in poli sci at UCF.

I know this is an old thread but I’m wondering the same thing. How is UCF’s History program?
I plan on majoring in History and applied to FSU, and am planning on applying to UCF soon as a transfer from a Community College.

programs are very good. If you take any history classes take them with Dr. Sacher or Dr. Gannon

My brother majored in History at UCF. I would say that he is neutral about the quality of the program–nothing special, but not terrible either. The program is not ranked by USNews either.

I should mention that my brother has since moved out to west coast of the US and has discovered that whenever his alma mater comes up in conversation, almost no one is familiar with UCF. I would keep this in mind if you plan to live outside of Central Florida.

Ah yeah it’s still a fairly new University compared to the others. I am still waiting on a response from FSU. If FSU decides to reject me then I’ll opt between USF and UCF.

You go to FSU, right? How do you like it?

FSU has been great for me, but I am majoring in Computer Science. I don’t have much to say about their History department.
