How Are/What are the Reps of these Frats?

What are DU, Pi Kappa Phi, and SAM known as at UPENN? Are they popular houses? Thanks

Actually, just DU and SAM would be good.

um, frat parties suck compared to general parties at the school i transferred from. reminds me of high school: cheap diluted beer, sketchy guys, too many popped collars and a general lack of classy distinction... usually in a smelly, sticky, humid basement somewhere where american kids unable to hold their alcohol may or may not have thrown up two seconds earlier...

My stereotypes, for what they're worth:

DU = quirky theatre boys. not the boys you'd think of as the usual "frat boy" party type. they're fun, but not "cool".

Pi Kap = more of your recognizable out-of-a-movie frat. Not quite as popular as SAE/Skulls/Kappa Sig/Beta, in my opinion, but still pretty respectable.

SAM = somewhere in between. not really popular, but they also don't have the dorky theatre element associated with them. probably a good fit for more down-to-earth kids who don't deal well with the popped collar thing but are still pretty chill.

Again...these are obviously stereotypes, and you're gonna have a pretty wide variety of guys in all houses.

I'd like to hear some more on these houses, I just met another person in SAM the other day and was curious. I don't go to Penn btw but have friends who do

any comment on AEPi?

What are the most prominent frats and how many guys actually live in the houses?

by prominent do you mean largest or "best" socially?

either/both

Advice on AEPi: make sure you're circumcised.

None of the frats are THAT big because there are 28 of them. Pledge classes usually range from 10-30ish maybe? Because there are so many the reputations aren't as established as sororities. This is pretty much just my opinion on the best...

Theos: This is actually a "secret" society, but essentially it's a frat. It's pretty big. They have great parties. A lot of Jews, a lot of New York/LA, trendy.

St. A's: Small, but well-established. Almost entirely New England prep school guys, wealthy.

Zetes: This was Donald Trump's frat. VERY wealthy, known for taking their pledges to Amsterdam every year, rumored that members sign over 1% of their wealth for their entire life.

Sigma Chi: Nice guys, lots of athletes (especially lacrosse).

Phi Delt: Preppy, lots of Southerners, like a bigger and less selective A's.

Owls: I actually don't really know anything about them, but it's also a secret society, more secretive than Theos, very wealthy and international and very selective.

Owls isn't very selective. They invite a lot of kids to their first meeting. Rumor has it that they use facebook to friend recruits. If you live abroad or live in a rich zip code they'll invite you.

They also walk around in fullsuits with umbrellas to hand out invites. kind of funny.
