Hey! To everyone who applied early decision: how are you doing on your other applications? Are you finished? Started? I feel so behind. It's crazy that we have just over a month until RD applications are due and in between now and then so much is happening (Thanksgiving break, PENN DECISION NOTIFICATION, Christmas break! etc.)!!

I hardly have any other supplements started... at this point I'm feeling like I'm in a lot of trouble... how are you all doing?

Not well.
Don’t have the heart to start, either
-

haha… yeah I have the heart to start… it’s the motivation that I’m lacking lol.

Hopefully I can get myself to work hard over thanksgiving break! Do you know how many supplemental essays you have to write?

So guys… only 2 more days until decisions come in! Are you all set with your “just-in-case” applications, or are you waiting for your decision? If I don’t get in, I’m going to have a hell of an essay-writing Christmas break. :)

I keep telling myself I’m going to start my other apps…but I just can’t! I think I’m going to wait till the decision. I don’t think my other apps won’t take too many extra essays, although I have applied to one safety school already to make a priority deadline!

well, UF app was in Nov 1, so was UMich app, which I’m also waiting on in the near future.
I need to schedule an MIT interview by tomorrow… which is sorta weird, considering results for Penn come out the day after.

I plan to recycle most of my essays for my other applications, or do them once winter break hits.

That sounds good. Unfortunately, I can’t recycle most of my essays because the prompts are different. In fact, I can’t use any of the essays I have already written with the exception of my common app essay. There are 2 essays that I’ll write for RD that will (with some tweaking) work for a total of 4 schools, so that will be good.

I think if I don’t get in, I’m going to do a lot of essay writing this weekend and then when winter break hits, I’m just going to be scrambling like crazy… hopefully they all turn out okay! :)

… i havent started ANYY aahh (this thread makes me feel better though)
and when we come back from xmas break we have two weeks of mock exams so we have to do exam revision during the break…
haha i’m pretty sure i have about 10 essays/short responses to do

haha that sucks… I’m pretty behind though too. I just counted and I have about 15 essays/short answers… yikes! But some are much easier than others and a couple are short 50 word responses… only 2 are full page responses and 8 are either 200 or 500 word responses…

I’m confident I can get them all done and put in effort over break though… it just won’t be much fun. I can already see myself speedily opening Christmas with family and friends only to sprint back to my room to finish essays.
oh how nice it would be if Penn would just accept me. :D

the best early christmas present, rite?

OH yeah… it would be the best Christmas present EVER to get into Penn ED! But I won’t get my hopes up too much. If I have to spend Christmas break writing college applications, I’ll suck it up and do so. :)

lol hopeful: I haven’t gotten any christmas/birthday presents since…grade 8? Mostly because my parents can’t exactly afford what I want…lol

but yeah, UPenn acceptance = four years worth of presents ANYDAY.

I totally agree! I haven’t asked for anything in years because if I want something, I’ll buy it myself and I’m not a big fan of spending a lot of money. A Penn acceptance would be the most amazing X-mas present EVERRR.

I’ve got the common app in for like 6 other schools. Supplements are pretty much done except for the Why? essay for some of them.

I did the USC and UC applications because they were due at the November but I really don’t have the effort to do other applications and supplements
because I’m hoping for an acceptance!

Actually doing the applications isn’t too bad. I just wouldn’t be able to stand the wait till March/April!

I haven’t been doing anything on other applications! I only have one RD app in, because I keep hoping that the 0.00001% chance prevails and I get admitted to Penn! Sigh The two weeks after the 13th are going to be painful…

the “why do you want to go to (insert school name here)?” are the worst, because my real answer is “I don’t. I wanna go to Penn.”

haha. Agreed. I feel like I need to research the other schools so much and then I have to BS a little of each answer to make it sound like I’m way more passionate about attending than I actually am.

Obviously, I’m hoping that most of us are accepted, and that if we aren’t accepted, we are deferred. BUT, for any of us that might have to deal with a rejection on Friday, do you think you’ll apply ED2 anywhere. I’m seriously considering it… but I think only if I’m rejected… I don’t think I’ll go for ED2 if I’m deferred.

Some schools have a regular early decision program where you apply around Nov. 1 like we did for Penn, as well as a binding early decision 2 program where you apply around the RD date but you find out earlier than the RD candidates. I think it’s intended for people who want to apply ED but also want to show off their senior year achievements/grades (especially if they had bad junior years or something) as well as for people who aren’t accepted to their first choice schools ED1 and want to try for their second choices.
