only have two more essays.

I’m freaking out!! My stuff is done - just waiting to be mailed tomorrow. But I checked my status for the one I’m doing online, and my teachers (all three) have apparently not given the form yet! I’m hoping it’s just because the admissions offices have been closed, but I gave them the form the week before Thanksgiving. Don’t you think that’s a lot of time to fill it out? And it’s weird how none of them handed it in…hmmmm. Hopefully, they are all in the admission office mailbox. It’s just one thing fewer to worry about.

i only finished the rough draft for one of the essays and all the short answers (except one) so i ONLY have six more to go. But i have an idea on what to write for one and i know im going to be reusing some of the essays for different schools.

As far as my recommendation goes, my teachers said they mailed them out. And i have to schedule three more interviews. I think i’ll be done in a week.

almost done with my applications that are due Jan. 15
All I can say is God bless Lawrenceville for its January 31st deadline

SPS short essay prompts require a lot of creativity. they’ve made me think a lot, but the end result has been ok
now for the SPS long essay… oh dear.

@DiveAlive-me too! In the end, its so that they know more about us.

Anyways, I’m all done for the essays I did for 9 schools! Only minor editing, and that’s it!

are there forms from the application that we are supposed to attach to our graded essays?

Finishing my last essay right now. Only got the CD to deal with and the graded essay. Life is good. :)

One long essay and there short essays left. I can do this! We can do this! :)

polodolly - Some schools have a cover sheet for the graded essay and some don’t.

aaahhh… just one essay left… just 400 words… I can do it! just need to concentrate! it doesn’t help that this is for the school i LEAST want to go too…

Which school has a cover sheet? As I’m getting things ready to mail, I’m getting a bit paranoid that I’ll leave something out.

Deerfield! (breathes sigh of relief at having found the answer amidst dozens of computer files)

@neato: Choate also has a cover sheet.

do you guys think that it would be okay to start off an essay with an anecdote

Absolutely! I’d think it would be that much more interesting to read. (But, keep in mind, I am not, nor have I ever been, an admissions officer, so take my advice with a grain of salt.)

In any event, anything that helps you start an essay has to be a good thing!

Thank you so much Dodgersmom, I can see that you came to my rescue twice in the past 24 hours I truly appreciate it!

Thanks for pointing out Deerfield has a cover sheet dodgersmom! And is everyone sure there isn’t a cover sheet for Andover?

I have a question… If you have things missing or things that need to be changed from your application, will the admissions office let you know before the deadline? What if you’re applying to schools from the ssat application?

vivsters -

I have no idea what they’ll do if you’re application goes in incomplete prior to the deadline. In my family, we never do anything in advance of the deadline . . . :D

After the deadline is another matter. The schools will generally let you know if something is missing and/or incomplete, and they’ll give you a chance to fix it. That doesn’t mean you get another month to send stuff in, but if you make a diligent attempt to supply the missing piece(s) promptly, you should be okay.
