How are you guys handling the wait?

For me, the problem's that I don't have much else to worry about. I'm usually swamped and trying to get everything done well, but suddenly I feel like my life's at a stand-still. I'd love to get out and just do things, and I do, but there's still this ominous feeling that I should be doing something else. Even when I'm out surfing our hanging out with friends, I feel like I've abandoned my responsibilities even though that's not the case.
Stressing about admissions seems to be the only thing that distracts me from that feeling... Not good, I know.

armageddon, I feel the exact same way!
Always guilty about something :/
For once I don't have much to worry about, but there has to be something.

i always wonder...is this extra stressing out going to help my chances of getting in??---yah, don't think so. so, what i did is that i removed all thought of applications from my mind and stored them safely in a pensive so that if anyone asks what's going on with applications, i'll be like "college?...what college?"

Well....in an ideal world that would have worked...but still! there's nothing you can do about it now!! Get a job, do charity work, read books, play Call of Duty till your eyes bleed, but stressing now will seriously do you nothing. Just reassure yourself by saying you've done all you can and all you can do now is enjoy the waiting while it lasts, i guess :D

ahhh...yes. call of duty is great to pass the time

so...... come march 26, or 31, whatever it may be- you find out you're admitted. but you must pay $30,000/ year..
then theres the stress and regret.. is it worth the debt, why didnt you apply for more scholarships. write more essays, have more jobs.
that's what im feeling right now. i got into a safety on a full ride and umd on at least a partial scholarship, but i dont know what getting into berkeley or some other schools would do to that.

AWW!! Don't be so pessamistic!! just think...college!! wo0o0o the possibilities are endless

and beware with Call of Duty though! it may produce some unwanted side effects! o.O

shalalalalala: what UMD scholarship did you get?

I got in, but I'm still begging them for finaid info, and the guy who called me said it would be the end of march :/

It is completely possible to maintain grades, do a lot of projects, pass all your AP exams, and still have fun. I'm not kidding you. You just need to figure out how to minimize on the school related things without jeopardizing your achievements thus far and maximize on the fun. It'll even help you prepare for college. And I know the feeling of always having something to do or thinking you do, but sometimes you just have to say screw it and do whatever it is you feel like.

Were your parents ready to swoop down and rip your head off for missing one assignment? Cause that's seriously how my parents are.

I never missed an assignment, I got straight As the last semester of senior year, and I passed all 7 of my AP exams senior year with a 4 or a 5.

Besides that my parents are very strict about academics, especially concerning math and science. I spent part of the summer after senior year reviewing chemistry and math before college. My dad chewed me out for not being able to explain the gas laws to his satisfaction and give adequate examples. This was during the summer after graduations mind you and no grades or assignments were involved.

Well I heard if you got into the regent's scholarship, you're in. So, if you did, you don't have to wait to know :)

Dill: D@MN!!!

...::ahem:: all 7 (!!!) AP exams!?!?! Whoa. Gosh, what a life. But the laws of gas are pretty fun to be familiar with. ^_^

Actually, I will confess that for one of my classes at school this year we had to bring in a dream catcher kit (weird, I know) and i forgot mine at home and i almost started crying. It was really pathetic...

Usually, my parents don't really hark on me, but that's because I dont really tell them how much work i have. They just walk in when i'm working until past midnight and beg me to go to sleep. I'm scared if they get too involved i'll never hear the end of things.

Wait....

Taking 7 AP tests senior year is a bad idea?

^ It's a lot to have to worry about. I'm definitely taking 2, maybe 3.

I'm a transfer student and I don't hear my admission results until after HS schools have been notified. It's not even the end of february and I'm freaking out already. A lot of nerves shooting everywhere. i need to calm the hell down. haha

I'd suggest trying some self-deception. Tell yourself you don't care which college you get into as long as you get into a college and you'll be less worried. Once you've convinced yourself of this, you won't think about college until May.

About AP exams:
I feel like a hypocrite saying this, but if you don't worry about passing and concentrate on learning the material for the sake of learninge night, you'll do just fine. I realized the night before my first AP exam that there was no way I could study for all my tests effectively, so I just picked one test to study really well for and hoped I knew enough about the rest to pass. It worked out just fine for what it was worth.

Also, if you're set on attending Cal or another college, look at how your future department considers your credits. For example, AP Government does little at Berkeley, but a 5 on AP Calculus BC will get you out of lower level math depending on your major. Focus on the APs that actually matter, but you'll have to do research for that.

^paahaahahaa a 5 on AP calc BC. Yah i wish. good one. I studied my head off for that exam and got a 4. I guess calc isnt my forte.
but even though AP government won't let you skip any classes, it will give you certain credits. Because of the APs my sister took in high school, she entered UCLA with a sophmore standing. I guess it gives you some privilages when signing up for classes and such.

and yah, I don't think i could have handled 7 AP exams. I'm fretting about my 5. :P .

dill: if you got all 4s and 5s, i think ill use your study method ^_^ . i dont know how its gonna work out for me tho--i get distracted quite easily. :P

I feel like most of you guys...

I already graduated in 08,
I didn't go to school because of cash issues

so I took the opportunity to go to Mexico and join a Rural-Medicine Volunteer Program

it's gonna end this year and I've applied to UCB,

I'm anxious! I want to know if I got in!
