How are you preparing for fall sports?

Oh, I didn’t know they were that good. Im just play for fun. I’ll look into either cross-country or ultimate frisbee. Those are the only two sports, besides wrestling, that are attractive to me. ( I hate running, though haha)!

First, I noticed this thread because of the title, even though I go to a public school. I wanted to see what other runners are doing. And this:

does not work. If you intend on being good, you have to run at least 35 miles a week, with 50 being preferable. I can understand if you are a freshman, but if not, you need to run more. Good luck!

hey deezul this is a bit off topic but heres a video of a campus tour of NMH is shows the wrestling gym. [YouTube - Campus Tour: Northfield Mount Hermon](<a href=“Campus Tour: Northfield Mount Hermon - YouTube”>Campus Tour: Northfield Mount Hermon - YouTube)

Umm… During cross country practice, how far do you run?

Thanks eukalyptus, nice video. I actually visited NMH in March. Its a nice campus. I just got to focus on maintaining my grades, and continuing my success on the wrestling mat. As of now, however, I am trying to decide on a second sport that i should compete in. (havent played any other sport other than wrestling, but whatever fall sport i choose must get me in better shape for wrestling season)

1st semester I am taking 1) PG English 2) Pre calculus 3) Honors Chemistry
2nd semester I am taking 1) Ceramics 2) Ethics 3) AP Physics 4 ) Calculus

I’ll be pretty busy with athletics, as well as, academics :)

For cross country I’ve been running almost every day (but not keeping track of my miles). Last week I didn’t run at all, but I still feel in shape. Today I ran a practice 5k at around 24:30. (I’m a girl). I hope to get better though. How much does arm strength matter, because I’ve been doing nothing for it.

o.o. this makes me feel so fat and lazy. I’m doing soccer and I’ve just been jogging every day, doing loads of situps, pushups, the sixty second/6inches(that thing kills), and just trying to eat A LOT healthier.

What is sixty second/6 inches?

now doing rowing camp. lol feeling productive!

I love how all of you are prepping for sports its quite funny

anyways i have been doing nothing except for a couple of college camps earlier in the summer

To urban flop, its when you lay on your back, hands on your sides, and put your legs up 6 inches for a minute+. It hurts in the stomach area. A lot. At first.:)

^ Oh, I call that leg lifts; I used to do it when I was on the cross country team…I have actually begun to do it again during this summer.

@preppy4peddie, I raise both my upper body and my legs :P

oh, @nerdgeekdork: yeah some people lift their upper body every few seconds. That’s a pretty good exercise:D

Okay, I’m confused about Exeter’s cross country schedule. The schedule for girls is here: [Phillips Exeter Academy | 2010 Girls Varsity & JV Cross Country](http://www.exeter.edu/athletics/3165_20974.aspx). The one for guys is here: [Phillips Exeter Academy | 2010 Boys Varsity & JV Cross Country](http://www.exeter.edu/athletics/3165_20971.aspx). I’m guessing that these are not the final schedules. Shouldn’t the guys and the girls run about the same meets? Does every member of the team normally run 16 meets?

Plus, the “about” page says they run 11 meets plus interschols.
