How bad are a few Cs?

I don't know what compelled me to take 5 aps my senior year, but I am. It feels like i'm on a rollercoaster...I've been getting around 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and when i go to school its so hard to stay awake and pay attention. However, I had A's in three classes and 2Cs and a B. Now i'm getting one A 3 Cs and 2Bs. I might be able to raise one C to a B (French), but I'm not sure. The gay thing is that I had an A in ap psych, really easy class. However, I didn't do a lot of the homework because i didn't have the time and figured studying for calc or chem would be a better usage of my time. This is really screwing me over now, as it made me go from a 92 to a 85..I applied to some top schools, like LA, Berkeley, Upenn, Pomona, CMC, occidental. Will this hurt me a lot? It's been hard juggling school with life at home. I want to drop some classes but I don't want to jeapordize my already slim chances at schools.

bump..i need answers...

"The gay thing is that I had an A in ap psych, really easy class."

You can't really personify how "gay" it is that you had an A in psych. Perhaps some tact would be beneficial.

And Cs prly ain't good for UPenn and the like. Unless a C is an A.

yeah i know i'm just having a hard time coming to terms that i am screwed for college. I just think it's gay because I know the subject matter and do really well on the tests, but don't have time to finish some of the homework. I have to help out my parents at their mini mart because they can't afford a worker and so I always hard pressed on time.

I found that alot people suffer the same problem while having 5 AP class on senior year. I foresaw this because of an advise from a good friend. So I spreaded out my AP to different years, 3 on sophmore, 3 on junior, 3 on senior. Even then three class each year is a constant pressure and sometime, well, you have to fold, getting A on all of them is out of question just because, well, you can't. Let me tell you straight from the heart, you have to make sacrifices. If you are applying to a engineering school, focus on your science and mathematics, screw AP history class. I had to make a choice between my AP Computer Science and AP U.S. History last year. It was not easy to admit that you can't do well on all of the class, especially with straight A on all your other classes. But also, try balance things out, try not get C, rather have two B than having an A and C.

Well i'm not just cramming in a lot of Aps my senior year. I took one sophmore year and 4 junior year and got all A's. Because I took 4 I thought I could take 5, but that was a big mistake. Combined with the fact that I had to work at my parent's business, I barely had any time to study, much less do homework.

hmm see im taking 5 AP's also this year (senior) but dont seem to have the same problem... its weird how things work out...
Berkeley and Upenn wont be happy... im applied to Upenn.
Im taking (keep in mind these are the highest offered classes in my school):
Calc AP- A
Orchestra- A
Chem AP - B
Computer Science AP- A
Physics AP- B
English AP- A

Those are my first semester grades.. the B's were 92's :(

haha well i guess we are different then. I'm taking ap calc, ap chem, ap us gov, ap psych, ap lit and french. The problem is not the subject matter. I understand it and do well on tests, it's just the homework that brings me down...

ahh hw kills the strongest... lol

hmmm... i'm sorry about your situation. My advice would be to send an email or a letter to all of your schools letting them know about your situation at home and how you have to work at your parents' mini mart along with taking the five AP classes (plus any extracurriculars, I assume). I'm not sure if it will help a huge amount, but I'm almost positive that it couldn't hurt. good luck with your applications!

also, if you had straight As with 4 APs your junior year and tough courses frosh and soph year as well, you'll be alright. don't get too stressed out about it. just write a good letter and do what you can to improve your grades, but don't stress about it too much after that because stressing won't help you.

I hope that this helps and that it will work out for you!

haha yeah thanks i was planning to send a letter but i didn't want to sound whiny or desperate. And if i did send an email, would it be good to send it through email or snail mail?

"Those are my first semester grades.. the B's were 92's"

What do schools have against normal grading systems?

oh its just my *****y school.. and they refuse to rescale them for colleges that have 10 point grade scales.. google caddo magnet high school

7 point grade scales for us...

bump...should i write a letter? I don't want this to jeapordize my chances, since i barely had any before :(

If you do decide to write the letter, you may want to avoid classifying anything as "gay".
