How bad are my chances?

Hey, this is my first post but i have been stressing out about High School for the last 2 weeks of my summer, and have been researching colleges, GPA's, EC's feverishly. Then I found this forum, and saw all the good advice being passed around so figured i'd would post here.

I am going to say sorry in advance for the long post, been stressing out, but want to be thorough and get another knowledgeable opinion on my chances.

I just finished sophomore year, and my GPA is not doing so great, unweighted i have around a 2.9 sophomore year, and 3.4 Freshman year, which comes out to a 3.15ish avg for both years. I have been taking mostly honors classes, and never have taken a class below Advanced. Sophomore year i took 3 honors classes and rest advanced, while freshmen year i have taken 2 honors. Junior year I plan on taking 2 AP classes, and a IB Computer Science class.
My Soph. GPA was so low because i took honors chem, and lower than usual grades in some other classes because of the coursework in that chem class, which I really struggled in.

I will be able to pick up my GPA junior year and am committed to doing so. After researching all this stuff on colleges it was kinda a "**** hit the fan" reaction from me.

As far as extracurriculars are concerned...

I am currently fluent in Polish and go to a language school every Saturday. I will be taking a Regency test in the fall, which will offer me college credits and end the school, which i have been taking since i was very young. This summer i will be attending a Language camp in Poland where i will study the language abroad.

I also have alot of volunteering hours, and volunteer at a hospital for 4 hours/week since the beginning of freshman year summer, giving me around 200-350 hours by the end of Junior year.

During Junior year summer i also plan to take Pre-College Computer Science courses at Rutgers or another school near me.

My hobbies are Sailing/Blogging/skiing, which i love but am not sure if i can include them on my college application, because i have not joined any clubs that deal with any of those things. (Except Skiing, which i will hopefully join Junior year, but there are only ever 40 spots open for the whole school, which is why it is really hard to join it as a freshman/sophmore, since Juniors have the best chance of getting in).

My PSAT scores came out as 71/68/72 when i took it ~Sophomore year

I know how my GPA suffers, but i am taking rigorous courses because my family always told me that rigorous courses /w lower grades are better than average courses with fantastic grades.

I would love to go to a good engineering school/more well-rounded school in the east coast/new England area/ (Florida is also a possibility). After researching college board, i am really liking Villanova, but any other college suggestions are welcome too. but because of my GPA and lack of "In-school extracurricular" I feel as if I really effed things up...

I don't know exactly what i want to do when i am out of college, but as of now i am very interested in a Computer Science Major /w an economics/Accounting/finance minor and then getting a Masters in Business Administration

So now I am thinking about joining FBLA or coding club, and hoping on joining Ski club, but i have heard that suddenly joining clubs Junior year of High-school looks bad on the application.

Your ECs don’t need to be affiliated with the school, and blogging would make a good essay topic  pick it up Junior year and try to enhance your ECs and I think you’re good.

Your ECs should be more focused on a particular area I think.

In terms of concentrating my EC’s a bit more,

I could join coding club which would connect with the summer classes/computer science course i am taking, but i will have to think a bit more about what else i could do to enhance/concentrate more on my EC’s

What about my chances at other schools beside villanova- like,

NYU
Boston college
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute?

I know i’m stretching it here, but i am curious

I think you could get into Boston college if you put more effort in next year

Your PSAT scores are really good so that’s going to a good point on your application once you take the SAT (and presumably get comparable scores).

I’m no expert but I’ve researched NYU and Boston College and your SAT scores put you at a reasonable range, but you definitely need to try and bring up your GPA.

I think your unique extra curriculars will make you stand out rather than hold you back, since you didn’t list “school-sanctioned” ones.
