How bad do B's look for Transfer Students to UC Berkeley?

Hello guys, I am going to transfer in Fall 2020 I applied to UC Berkeley and UC Davis with majoring in Economics in mind. I applied to the Economics major with the UC Davis TAG application.

I also want to double major in Statistics/Mathematics. However, UC Berkeley and UC Davis have somewhat different requirements. UC Davis requires a Java Programming class while UC Berkeley doesn’t.

I’m taking a Java Programming class to fulfill UC Davis’ requirement but that class is pretty hard and I’m afraid that I won’t get an A in that class, which would make me lose the 4.0 GPA I have right now.

I’m having thoughts about dropping that Java Programming class, but if I go to UC Davis, I would have to take that class again and I already put that class on my TAG to UC Davis. However, if I don’t drop that class, I might get a B in that class.

But again, the Java Programming class is not needed for my main or second major for UC Berkeley. With that considered, how bad will a B on my Java Programming class look (next to all my A’s) when applying to UC Berkeley? Is it worth a gamble to drop that class?

Berkeley admits transfers with a gpa below 4.0 so I don’t see any reason to drop it. You’ll still be a very competitive applicant, and if you decide to go to Davis then you don’t need to retake it.

Don’t drop a B
