Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to be getting a C in my writing class :(. I have A's in all my other classes. Is this C going to hurt me at all in the future, or will employers only look at my overall gpa?

It’s not a good thing, but it’s not really that big of a deal (other than the GPA hit).

Employers will only look at your overall GPA and major GPA, so just keep those up. Graduate schools probably won’t even care that much about a writing class.

I got a C in chinese this semester but all A’s and 1 B in my science/engineering/math courses, so are you saying that the C probably won’t hurt me as much overall even though it does affect my GPA?

Seriously, All of you " will a C kill me? or should I just jump of the building " people need to chill.

I interned with two competent firms in nyc, they asked for a 3.0 minimum before the interview and an unofficial transcript AFTER I was selected.

If you maintain a 3.0, many companies wont look at your transcripts other than to check if you were lying about something. I am not referring to R&D positions or those at NASA & similar ( they too did not ask for it during OCR). Believe me, if an interviewer wanted to reject someone, they can find a million reasons to justify it. Bad breathe? Yep, it could have been, you never know.

Unfortunately, if you stumbled with a C in writing in freshman, expect a few D’s along the way. Dont fret over it, it happens sometimes. Hopefully, this " horrible/ life changing " grade will guide you in making better study plans.

I am sorry if this offended anyone, I’m just being real.

I got 2 C’s and still ended up with a 3.8. You take around 40 classes for your bachelor’s, so I wouldn’t worry.

Hey, I was identical to gthopeful! 2 C’s and a final 3.8. What are the chances?? Of course, it still BUGS me to think about those two Cs! Physics and Architectural Design. Blech.
