How bad does a withdrawal look on a transcript? Particularly to Virginia Tech?

I am a junior in high school and I just recently dropped out of Precalculus Honors and into regular. I am taking another honors class (physics-it sucks), 2 APs, and I am in French 4. Precalc was just too much stress and I was doing horribly. I left the class with an F. How horrible does the "withdrawal-failing" look on my transcript if I average a good grade in regular precalc? I felt I was better off doing this than failing honors precalc for the year, which is probably where I was headed.

Anyone accepted into Virginia Tech or other good schools with a withdrawal failing on their transcript? It's driving me crazy and I feel like no one is going to accept me now :\ I'm usually a good student, I have a 4.0 from freshman & sophomore year combined, but so far this year I just melted down and didn't do as well as I know I could have. Any thoughts? Much appreciated

Looks pretty bad, no way around that.
Plus, I’m assuming you’re interested in something math/science related if you’re going to Virginia Tech. A failing grade in honors precal… Plus you probably won’t be taking Calculus next year… VT really values those math and science courses.

It’s not going to ruin your application! But it does hurt. Don’t lose hope! Make sure you do well this semester. You’ll be okay.

Question, if you’re not good a pre-cal, and don’t like physics, what exactly are you looking forward to at Virginia Tech?
