How bad does it look to be a native spanish speaker and take the Spanish SAT II?

I recently took three SAT II's and one of my scores didn't come out so great, so I'm only going to send two. I got an 800 in the Spanish test and when I apply ED I'm planning on sending Spanish as one of my tests. I was born in Puerto Rico and live in Miami but at my home we've stopped speaking Spanish. Not all hispanics can read and write that well in Spanish and I have had to take formal classes in High School to regain a lot of the knowledge I had lost. So, for me I don't see it as unfair that i took the test. Do you think it would look bad if I apply to a top notch university and use that spanish score as one of my two tests?

From Harvard’s website…

Yeah, but my first language was English. I’ve only ever attended school in English. My parents grew up in the US and speak to me in english. We lived in Latin America for four years (first four years of my life) for business reasons even though they are Hispanic. Besides, when I talked to admissions officers, Harvard was the only one that said they didn’t approve. Princeton, Brown, and Yale admissions officers all told me it was fine that’s why I’m not sure. Would they just tell me it’s fine and then look down on it once they get my actual application?

(If I do apply to Harvard I would take more subject tests beforehand, this is just for Brown’s ED)

If Brown admissions told you that it was fine, then I’d say go with what they said. After all, they’re the ones judging you. I’m sure they would have told you if they had reservations about it.
If you can, maybe take another test just for safety’s sake in October… results should be in in time to send to ED schools.
But I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
