I was in regular English for 9th, 10th and 11th grade. I got a B+ in regular 9th grade, so obviously I couldn't honors in 10th. 10th grade, I got an A-, and my teacher refused to recommend me up to honors for 11th even though she could have. In 11th grade, I got an A in regular and now I'm taking honors in 12th grade. Considering that the vast majority of students applying to top 20 schools have taken honors by 11th grade, how bad would this bad on my transcript? Also, if it helps, I"m planning to apply as undecided in College of Arts and Sciences at all the schools.

The reality is each schools’ applicant pool will be inundated with kids who HAVE taken their schools most rigorous offerings and knocked out consistent As throughout. You’re not out of the running but an objective comparison of your performance with that of your competition says you’r a step behind. For many of these schools, that single step is often fatal.

Your real goal should be to craft a list of fantastic schools and not be hypnotized by the ivy label. Good luck.

Yeah, that was what I was afraid to hear. Thanks though!

Do any of you guys recommend that I should do early decision for Cornell then? (originally planned on UPenn). Or is it a waste of my time.
Here’s the link to my stats (originally a UPenn chance me thread).
