How bad does this look?

Okay so I am a sophomore at a community college. My freshman year was easy. By easy, I am not referring to classes and grades; I am referring to the process of registering and paying for school. The start of this year, however, has been nothing but a nightmare. This community college screwed me over financially in more ways than I wish to explain. However, because of this, I have been working my butt off to pay for the cost (which ended up having to go on a credit card and therefore has to be paid immediately). I ended up having to drop 3 of my classes. I am still having difficulties with this school even with the classes that I have left. I do not want to have to deal with them anymore. I plan on taking next semester off and transferring to a different school in the fall of 2012. In the semester I am taking off, I plan on working to pay off this credit card bill as well as save money for where I'm transferring to. I also want to volunteer at a few places I have in mind.
Apart from the three W that will appear on my transcript, I have all As and Bs. This includes the regular semesters plus winter classes and summer classes.
My questions is, how bad will these 3 withdraws look to the colleges I intend on applying to if I have good grades otherwise, and if I work and volunteer during the time that I am not in school?
I plan on applying to SUNY New Paltz, University of Vermont, and University of Maryland, if that helps at all.

I can’t say from experience, but in my opinion if you explain the withdrawals in your application it won’t hurt you- most colleges are understanding of extenuating circumstances, and it seems like you’ve done everything you can to succeed.
