I took Calc 1 this semester which is needed for my Computer Science major, I was off to a rough start, and dug myself into a hole early, so I decided to drop it and retake it in the summer. Also a reason I dropped it was because that was not the teacher I signed up for and I just couldn't follow along with what she was talking about.

But anyways my main question is, since I need Calc 1 for Computer Science, how bad is just one W on my transcript for that class if I plan on transferring to another University?
this is only my first ever W by the way and my GPA is 3.54.

It depends upon when you apply for transfer, how many other courses you’ve taken, how well you’ve done in those and what those courses are. Also depends on the school to which you are applying to transfer. I would be looking very hard at that calc grade for a Comp Sci major transferring into my school since that course is integral to the program. But if the student retakes the course and does fine, and everything else looks great with a full load of courses, then it wouldn’t make much difference. For transfers, the most important thing by far is the transcript from the college. Your high school grades and test scores diminish in importance and the other college is mainly interested in how well you can handle a full college load. Getting a “W” is a problem unless you can show that you can do this and do it well.

Well it’s my second year, I have all A’s and B’s on my other courses, I am applying for transfer this November when applications open to the University of Houston Main Campus. As of right now I have 33 hours attempted and 33 hours completed. I just withdrew from that Calc class today but plan on retaking it during the summer.

Would this still be any big of a deal?
