In general... I am struggling tremendously with a Calc. 2 course. If I work my ass off, I will probably get a C/C+/B-(if lucky). There is the 30/30/30/10 curve implemented for the course. I assume that job recruiters/etc largely evaluate the GPA, experience, and extracurricular, isn't that right? So, a W on a transcript would hurt my chances less than a lower GPA? Opinions, please?

My GPA is actually not too great right now though. The grade in Calculus would probably bring it down from a 3.5 to a 3.1/3.2.

Do you need the class in order to fulfill a requirement? I think it would be better to just stick it out and get an okay grade as opposed to dropping it with a W and having to take it up again. Just try to get the course overwith and compensate by doing well in the rest of your classes this semester.

A W looks better than an F… but you won’t get an F, so stick it out…especially if it’s a course you’re required to have. If it’s not, then one W isn’t going to really hurt you, but I’d still say to stick it out and get a passing grade.

A W followed by a B or A for that class (assuming you took it a second time and did better) is okay, I should think. I have two Ws on my grades, due to a financial aid snafu (nothing academic).

Dont take the W unless you are going to fail, its a waste of time to drop at this point. Take the credit, one C is not going to hurt that bad when you have way more classes to bring your GPA up later.
