i might get a B or C in chemistry at my california community college. it's not the general chemistry, it's the one before it. (i took it so i can better prepare myself for gen. chem, but unfortunately my teacher is infamous for harshness)

There's a chemistry course before gen chem?

I thought gen chem was the most basic...

Genchem is the equivalent of AP Chem. So, given that high schoolers often take something before AP Chem, presumably that's what he's doing.

bluedevilmike's right. it's the chemistry before gen. chem. basically a h.s. class. my counselor told me to take it so i can be sure to get a good grade when i take gen. chem. that dumb a..

Just don't send in your transcript from that CC to your 4-year university. No one will ever know.

Medical schools will demand transcripts from all "college"-level work. Omitting them would be considered falsification and, if discovered, would be sufficient to have you removed from medical school/licensure no matter how far into it you were.

In other words, taking TR's suggestion is a nice way to have a permanent black mark on your record, lose $240,000 worth of tuition/expenses, and lose four years of your life.

if you are a transfer student then it will hurt, so my advise to you is to study your butt off for that class. By the if you just take one or two classes at a CC then i think therighteous has a point. but seeing as you are a transfer student, you HAVE to send your transcripts. If you cant get an A then by all means get the B (B+ if possible).

good luck

A 'B' won't kill you...just try not to get more than 1 or 2. A 'C' is harder to balance out.

so getting more than 1 or 2 B's out of the 19 courses i have to take for pre-med is going to hurt my chances of getting into medical school? or is that just of getting into Hopkins, Harvard, Mayo, Duke, etc.?

B182 was almost certainly referring to taking said courses at a CC. And even then I'm suspicious, to be honest. I think even one B from a CC might be problematic.

And why in the world do you need 19 premedical courses? The standard number is at most twelve semesters.

the suggested pre-medical curriculum at UT-austin is 59 hours of assorted math, physics, bio, chem, and english... its pretty strict but im thinking about transfering to the university of notre dame next year. if you would like a link to the PDF file for the pre-med classes here i can give it to you, just ask.

Ah, okay, so you're discussing suggestions rather than requirements. Also, you're in Texas (extra year of bio). So that's 14 requirements, and an extra few bio classes here and there.

the title of the course sheet is "UT Austin Courses Which Meet MINIMUM Admission Requirments For Medical School in Texas"
