Do I have any chance at Northwestern or Uchicago? (4 yrs varsity swim, vp of a club, 223 psat probably semifinalist dont know yet)
How much will that C affect me?

Bump! I’m interested in this thread. I have one C and 4 B’s and I’m looking into Cornell and the like. So yeah, people, answer his/her question! :P

Your SAT is great, but your UW is not at all competitive for Northwestern or UChicago (the W will be reasonable come the end of your junior year, but still not very impressive by the standards of these schools). On top of that, you had a rather considerable downward trend… and the ECs you listed also aren’t going to garner any wide eyes from admissions officers. Places like UChigaco would be willing to overlook a C in light of an otherwise outstanding app, I reckon, but probably not with so many Bs, as well. Sorry to say it, but the only portion of your app thus far that demonstrates that you’ll be able to handle NW/UChicago-type work and workloads is your SAT. Your rigorous course load is appreciable, but the accompanying grades aren’t.

In summation, the C does hurt quite a bit, but for hypercompetitive colleges, it’s just a contributing factor to a bigger problem.

Spanish 3 is supposed to say A/A

Ask if you can bump up your 79.93 to a B-.

Haha Im going to try but my teacher’s pretty strict

I know how you feel… freshman year I got an 79.94… and he didn’t round up… we are in the same boat! Ask your guidance counselor if you can retake english online or over the summer… that’s what im trying to do

Talk to your guidance counselor about your situation. I got a 92.3 in AP Statistics last semester and the teacher wasn’t going to round it up to an A and after I explained my situation, they had her round it up. Most teachers aren’t going to give in to that… They say that it’s unfair to other students. Go over their heads. ;D

Could you please post in my thread? I really need some opinions. (:
