Hi everybody after my sophomore year, I completed spanish through level 3. But in my junior and senior year I haven't taken Spanish. My schedule for my junior year was
ap bio, apush, honors organic chem, ap chem, ap world lit, and bc calc. My senior year schedule is honors discrete mathematics/linear algebra, ap stats, ap psych, honors survey of english literature, and honors physics. Will my replacing of foreign language with these additional science and math classes make up for it? I'm also using rosetta stone and my guidance counselors going to mention that in the letter she writes me. So I'd like to know will I just get rejected for not having 4 years of foreign language from top universities ?

Apply to your desires and see what happens. It depends on the requirements set by each college. Want assurances? No one knows what will be the tipping point for next year’s acceptances. You are in competition with students who took 4 years of foreign language, some AP level. Good Luck.

Most colleges say 4 years are recommended but not required but i don’t know how reassuring that is

I was able to skip Spanish 1 during my freshman year, so I only took Spanish 2 and Spanish 3 during my fresh/soph years. I did not want to take AP Spanish my junior/senior year - my native language is not Spanish - so I am just going without it. If you have 3 years of it at least, your fine. It is unfair for non natives to take an AP language when the rest of the class is fluent/native and definitely has a much better chance of doing better.

Does it count as 4 years if I started French 1 in freshman year and finished AP French junior year?

I want to know if I should do foreign language this senior year

And you can make this statement based on what?? It will depend on the college, the rest of your application, the rest of the candidate pool, etc. Read this thread for more discussion, pay attention to what T26E4 says:

Many non-native speakers take AP FLs and do fine.

It is the level that counts, you’re fine.
