I am a current Highschool senior, anxious like everyone else who applied to college. I was wondering if i had any chance if getting into the following schools: Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, San Diego State, Long Beach State and San Jose State as an Enviornmental Science major. My GPA is 3.53 and my reading+math SAT scores is 1170. I’m an African American Female if that has to do with anything.
All Cal States except SLO use the eligibility index to rank applicants based on major.
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR). If your CSU is 3.53 and SAT is 1170, you EI is 3994. Your GPA is a bit low for SLO which is probably a High Match but I think you have a decent chance at the rest of the Cal States on your list. California Publics banned affirmative action, so your race will not be considered only your stats.
Not sure what you plan to specialize in as an Environmental Science major, but most of the Cal State programs focus on policy (except SLO) versus Ecology/Natural Resources/Hydrology etc… If policy is your focus, Long Beach state has an excellent program while SLO would be the best Cal state for Ecology/Natural Resource Management.
Good Luck.
SLO is my number one and CSULB is my second choice, hopefully it will work out. Thank you for your input.
