How Bad is it to Take the SAT a 4th Time?

<p>How much will colleges look down on you for it, if at all? I'm considering taking it a 4th time in December to try to bring up my math score. I really want to hit that 2300, even if it's superscored.</p>

<p>My current scores are (single sitting, third try):</p>

<p>CR - 760
M - 720
W - 800</p>

<p>I'm pretty happy with my current score, it's just that I can bring myself up to a 2300/1500 if I can just bring math up by 20 points...</p>

<p>Personally, I think it would be a waste of time. Your scores are excellent.</p>

<p>however, if you feel that you can do better, i recommend you take it again.</p>

<p>and if you are class of '10, you need not worry about taking the sat too many times--you can pick which score colleges can see</p>

<p>Honestly, there's no difference between a 2280 and a 2300. If it -really- bothers you, go ahead, but it won't matter in the end.</p>

<p>and i asked my college counselor about taking the SAT multiple times, and she says that it just starts to be a waste of money and time the more times you take it and colleges aren't going to accept or deny you based on how many times you've taken an SAT</p>

<p>teenage__cliche is right. However, since this is a matter of personal pride I say go for it. BTW when I was at Chapel Hill I asked the admission counselor if they frown upon taking the SAT over three times. He said, "no, take it as many times as you wish." Why? Because UNC - CH (and probably most colleges) will take your superscore.</p>

<p>i can definitely see why he does want to take it again b/c a score of 1500 M + CR is very important for all colleges</p>

<p>im retaking 2270 (700 reading, 780 math, 790 writing)
to get the reading up </p>

<p>even if it goes up 10 points, thats fine because most places superscore or take your best test</p>

<p>id say take it if you've already signed up</p>
