I couldn't do the interview for some private reason so how bad is that...? i mean it wasn't that great a reason... my parent just don't want me to apply to harvard lol. and thats what i put on the excuse form too

i believe that your app for harvard isnt complete until you have the interview...thats what my interviewer told me

haha um... i think that looks bad. it shows that you don't have the initiative to go get to the interview yourself.. and besides, i think colleges take into consideration what your parents think cuz they know how big of an influence they are.

my columbia interviewer even asked me what my parents thought about me going to NYC.. and told me that was important and stuff.

I honestly don't know how your parents not wanting you to apply kept you from being interviewed. Do they control your every move?

And if they do, how would you be able to go to Harvard if you're accepted? To me, it seems like applying was a waste of time if you can't even manage to get to the interview because of overbearing parents.

Well, if you don't have a car, for one, that's a way having overbearing parents can keep you from being interviewed.

That's the first thing I thought. If you can't even get yourself to an interview because of parents, I hardly think that you will be in a position to actually attend if admitted.

There are cities in this country where you don't need a car to get around. And if you tell the interviewer, "I can't get a ride, and I don't have a car -- could you meet me at the McDonald's near my high school?" 99% of the time, they'll say yes. No interviewer is going to be suspicious if you say your parents can't drive you; I had one interviewee whose only parent had been in the hospital for weeks.

I interview at one school where the school itself sets up interviews on the premises before or after classes. Your school might help arrange this, too.

Assuming the interview is reasonably nearby, can't you call a cab? Or ask a friend for a ride?

i haven't been contacted for an interview yet...should i call for one or wait? thx guys, canada here=)

heyy..canada here too...and i havent got an interview yet, although friends from my school have already had theirs..its horribly disconcerting, does it mean anything?

don't show that trait of yours at the interview. i doubt any college would want someone whose life is dictated by his/her parents, or anyone.

my parents didn't want me to apply to the east coast at all. still, i did 12.

well they think we can't afford it... but i wanna at least apply and see what kinda fin aid i get if i get in or wutever
