How bad: to get acceptance RESCINDED?

Whatsup class of 2014, hell yeah.

So basically I might end up getting a C as a final grade this year. I was wondering how bad does one have to do to get their offer rescinded?

Worst case scenario, I would end up with a C in AP physics, and an A/B in BC Calc, Japanese 2H, English 4H, and H Gov

Well is it a “I’m working my ass off but I can only get this grade” C or is it a “I have senioritis and I should be getting a D but my teacher is lenient” C? Since it’s AP Physics I’m guessing it’s the first.

Does it matter which it is?

For the record, it’s a combination of both. But colleges don’t see that, they just see the grade.

Well the first one is usually a c+ while the second is a c-. Granted so long as it’s only one class you should be fine, but I’m no admissions counselor.

If you go to the university of michigan website, they explicitly say if a student receives more than 3 C’s or 1 F in a class, they are subject to having their application rescinded. If I remember correctly they will ask you to write a letter explaining your grades, so they won’t automatically rescind. My take is, dont worry, but then again, try to maintain at least a 3.0. Good luck!

Can you post the link to where they say that explicitly on their website?
Not that I’m concerned but a friend of mine is.

I’ll second that, please post link

"The University of Michigan expects all aspects of your academic performance and conduct in your senior year to be consistent with the record you presented upon admission. Any significant decline in your academic performance, such as three or more C’s, any D’s, E’s or F’s, may be cause for revoking admission. Declining grades or a significant change in curriculum may also be cause for revoking admission. Although senior year grades are reported directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and reviewed, it is your responsibility to advise OUA of any serious decline in grades or changes in course selections previously entered on your application. Please note that transfer students are also subject to revocation if their course work completed before the intended term of enrollment at U-M does not meet our academic standards.

It is also important that you maintain high standards of behavior and conduct. Misconduct that occurs or comes to light after your admission, such as disciplinary action at your high school/college that leads to suspension or expulsion, criminal charges or convictions, or other serious behavioral incidents may be cause for revoking admission."
