How bad will this look on my transcript and how can I help it?

I didn’t have the best grades in freshman year, and the first semester of sophomore year was a HUGE improvement.
Unfortunately, that went away during the second semester and it’s around the same level as freshman year, if not only a little better (I just finished sophomore year by the way).

I was really proud of myself halfway through the year because I read that colleges like to see improvement, however I’m extremely worried now about how they will see the second semester.

Any thoughts on how colleges will perceive this? Is this worse than having a constant, low GPA and then improving during junior year? Also I know I’ll have to work my ass off junior year, but do you guys have any other advice on how to help this?

What do you mean by ‘‘didn’t have the best grades’’, are we talking 2.0 GPA or 3.0, 3.2, etc? We need to know to give you better advice - 2.0 GPA is way different than 3.0.

Lol sorry I forgot to mention that
2.8 to a 3.5 to a 2.8 again.

Try to take traditional/academic classes and ace them all to improve your GPA; the college will like to see you overcome this problem. They care about the end result if they see that you pull this GPA back up to a 3.5+ they will think “Oh n/a is working hard, we need that in this school.”. If you want it, go get it; also find ways to work smarter not harder. You should also reconsider your workload and its rigor.
