I'm trying to raise my gpa as high as possible before applying next fall. I was enrolled in a four year though so many schools have unit caps of 90 units. My plan would be to complete 77 units by the end of next summer. This would mean I would only be able to take about six units during fall and spring to be within the unit cap. How bad would this look? Or would the UC's not even care?

how about you further investigate to wherever you want to transfer to then come back and let us know what you found. and search the UC to CC to x-college threads.

What do you mean? Of course I’ve already investigated this. There isn’t any rule about it stated on the TAG sites for each school. They all just say you have to maintain a certain semester and overall gpa each semester. I was wondering if maybe someone has had a situation like mine maybe? I’ve also searched those threads but found nothing similar to my situation there. If anyone can help me I would seriously appreciate it.

Anyone, please? Maybe there’s someone here who only took a few units their last year and still got into a good uc?

I don’t know anything about TAG or TAP requirements since I did neither and only applied to the one UC that doesn’t use them anyway. I took 4-9 units a semester for years before I transferred to UC Berkeley. I was working 40 hours a week in a professional capacity and living life as an older student while doing that. At any rate, taking fewer units in your last year at CCC is not going to have an affect on your application. What will? Not meeting your IGETC (or L&S, etc) and major requirements and/or goofing off enough to earn poor grades. And it might look better - at least to future jobs/research/graduate programs - if you are working part time, doing an internship, doing research work on the side, or volunteering while taking only 6 or 7 units per semester.

Thanks, thatgirltoo! That’s actually exactly what I was thinking about, interning and holding down a job. Also, this will be my second year at a community college after a year at a csu too so it’s not like I can take too many classes anyway. And Berkeley is my dream school! You’re so lucky you’re there.
