how bad

how bad is the parking at UCLA?
and how easy/difficult is it to get a parking permit for a freshman?

Keep dreaming

its that bad?

keeps on dreaming for a parking spot

unless you have a sick relative or a far-off job, you won’t get one

It’s a poorly planned and overcrowded university. Students often find parking near and around Strathmore.

You can always use public transportation, it seems to be the popular choice.

I am afraid it is impossible for a freshman (or almost anyone) to get a parking permit. A bit of a shock for us when my daughter was a freshman last year. To get a permit you must document (with pay stubs, etc.) an off campus job that you must have a car for. Or a sick relative that relies on you transportation or a serious medical issue of your own. When it was obvious my daughter would never get a permit she moved into an off campus apt for sophomore year which is only a block further from her old dorm. It came with parking spots for $60 a month. As a freshman you will not really need a car…unless one of the above scenarios is yours…
