How badly did I screw up?

<p>So, an entire MONTH (!) after I submitted my Common App, I found out that I messed up pretty badly. My personal essay is submitted TWICE, both as a Personal Essay and Additional Information. I have no idea how I missed this the first time. I read through it so many times, I just don't know how this could have happened.....</p>

<p>I have already been deferred by the University of Chicago, probably because of this mistake. I still haven't heard from Vanderbilt because I applied there on Regular Decision. I already sent an email to Vanderbilt Admissions and explained the error. </p>

<p>But I'm wondering... How badly did I screw up? Do you guys think this was what got me deferred at UChicago?</p>

<p>It is extremely unlikely that is why Chicago deferred you.</p>

<p>Not a big deal. Just send an email to your schools noting the mistake and submitting the correct essay. And I agree with Erin’s Dad, this is probably not why you got deferred. (But send Chicago the correction too!)</p>
