How Badly Did I Screw Up

Hey all,
I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Rochester. I’m also a transfer student. I did very well GPA-wise last year, ending out the year with a 3.8 overall.
With that said, I had a pretty bad semester this year. It was a very hard adjustment, and it felt like once I was beginning to get my bearings, the semester was over. I don’t know how badly I did yet, but I’m really worried. I’ve always wanted to go to a t-14 law school, but now I’m scared that this will no longer be a possibility, as I will have this blemish on my transcript (although I don’t know how bad that blemish will be just yet).
I know that I’m going to have to do much better regardless, but is any chance I had of shooting for a t-14 over? Even if I do badly one semester but really well for the next three/four semesters, will that make no difference?
I’m really worried. Please be honest. Thank you and happy holidays.

You should chill out. Unless you failed your classes, it’s unlikely that this one semester will sink your chances at the T14. You have plenty of time to get good grades and pull your overall GPA up. One semester of grades is basically equal to a couple LSAT questions. And you don’t even know how you did yet — you might have done better than you thought.
