Every junior at my school is required to take the ACT next Friday as part of a graduation requirement. The mandatory ACT doesn't include writing, so I took the the test with writing on the 9th. I got a 36 on that one and I obviously don't want to do any preparation for the test next week. I'm sure I could get a 34 or 35 if I took it cold, but I doubt I could repeat a 36 without any studying.

Does it reflect poorly on me for college apps if I drop a few points after the first test?

I could, but because the school district uses the data from this test to grade every school, every junior has to have a score submitted. If I got it terminated, it’d appear as a 0 for me. It also has to be this specific test date - the school can’t use scores from some other date in place of the one administered by the school.

I know how you feel, my school has to take the PSAE (an Illinois specific test that is required to graduate) and that test includes the ACT without writing, so I will have to take that and another test date so I can have the writing portion.

I don’t think it will look bad. They might not even evaluate the ACT without writing because most colleges want the ACT with writing, so you might not even have to send that score. If you do, it probably won’t be looked at.

Ya it is very cheap of the states to have the ACT testing without writing. Makes my test useless and therefore I must take again with writing some other time :(…If you get a 36 and 34 you will be in very good shape for any college.
