Generally speaking, you have to screw up pretty badly. Colleges don’t WANT to rescind you and they’ll only do it if they feel like they have no other choice. Top publics like Berkeley are okay as long as you maintain a 3.0 UW each semester, no D’s or F’s. Regular state schools should be fine as long as you again don’t get any D’s or F’s and maintain above a 2.5. For private schools, I think it really depends on the institution and your situation. But try not to think about the bare minimum you have to do. Aim a little higher. Or at least try to balance out your C’s with A’s, dude.

And I think we’re being a little harsh towards Finn here. We don’t know his circumstances or why he received the grades he did. People mess up sometimes–that’s a part of life. Besides, it’s helpful to read about someone else’s experience with this.

Other no-no’s if you don’t want to get rescinded:
- Get arrested
- Get suspended
- Get in a fight
- Get caught drinking alcohol/doing drugs

So basically, continue to exercise good judgement and you should be all right. Enjoy second semester!
