How badly do you need to do to get rescinded?

Let's say your grades are A's, with a B here and there. How badly do you need to do to get the uni to rescind you? A string of B's? A string of C's?

I’m sure it would probably have to be more severe than a few C’s (although on this website, C’s are like F’s to most people). If you just keep doing what you’re supposed to do you probably don’t have to worry too much.

My school principal said that last year only one girl was threatened with being rescinded from Michigan because she missed almost a whole semester of school from the swine flu, so she started getting a lot of F’s. She kept her acceptance though. I think you have to do REALLY bad to get rescinded.

^She only kept her acceptance because she had a valid excuse for doing so badly though. If she were just skipping, she probably would have been rescinded.

For Michigan I hear it’s less than a 3.0, 3 Cs, or 1 D/F and they send you a letter asking why you had such a drop in grades. If you can come up with a reasonable reason though, you’ll likely be fine. Schools aren’t looking to rescind admissions, they just want people to keep doing their work.

I think multiple C’s or one D or one F are the norm everywhere. They won’t just rescind you the second they hear about those grades. They’ll contact you, see if you have a reason for having those grades, and see if all the C’s were 79’s or something and are on the upswing.

It’s pretty hard to get rescinded on accident. If you continue doing your work the way you did it before acceptance, you’ll be fine.

People at my school got rescinded for 1 C and a D. At Michigan, I know someone who flaked off her senior year, got a D (2 C’s, 2 B’s, 1 A), and still got to keep her admissions. I think that it really depends on the student and school.

If you don’t take the AP exams at the end of your senior year, can they rescind you? AP exams are incredibly expensive, and the schools I’m going to don’t really give AP credit. So I’d rather not have to borrow $430 to pay for the exams. Is that bad? Can that get me rescinded? My school doesn’t require that you take AP exams.

^No, they won’t even know, and they’d probably prefer you NOT take the AP exams (they make more money when you have to take the actual class).

For most schools it seems to be less than 3.0 for the school year or any D/F (or something similar). Like said above, if you can present a reasonable excuse you may be ok anyway.
