How badly does OOS affect my chances?

<p>I’m from Hawaii, and my target school is UCSD and gauging from admissions data(only 7% out of state) it seems that it is heavily biased towards in-state applicants.</p>

<p>How much harder would I have to work? I predict i’ll get around a 3.7 UW GPA(not sure what my UC GPA is), with a good essay and average ECs. What sort of SAT scores/GPA should I be shooting for to have a good shot?</p>

<p>Don't limit yourself by a definite SAT score to shoot for. Always try to do your best. Ideally, with a 3.7, you might want to try for 2200+, but you can always calculate your own admissions if you're unsure. I'd like to say 7900 is the target for OOS.</p>
