This may seem like a dumb question but i’m genuinely concerned. Ok so basically i’m in community college at the moment with the intention of transferring to a 4 year university after 2 years. I’m going for pre med and i’ve just finished my first semester with mixed results. I have A’s in english, history and educ, but ended up with a 75 in college algebra. (If you’re wondering about science, i had to drop it and I’m taking it next semester.) The issue is that i’m already not the best at math, and to top it off I had a bad professor. So my question is, how badly will this look on my transcript in the future? I know pre med students have a ridiculously high standard so i’m kind of freaking out. There’s not really much I can about it except work my butt off in the next two semesters and get A’s and B’s right?
Bump
You will need a high overall GPA and a high biology/chemistry/physics/math GPA (probably at least 3.6 for both, though it also depends on your MCAT score) to be a realistic candidate for medical school admission. Even then, there are additional factors involved in the selection process, once you show GPAs and an MCAT score that the medical school deems worthy of consideration.

Remember the pre-med grading scale:
A = acceptable
B = bad
C = catastrophic
D = disastrous
F = forget it
Well there’s nothing I can do about the C that I earned last semester, but if I get b’s in math from now on then would it be fine? I’m not great at math and I know it so i’m not going to expect myself to consistently make a’s in it. I’m trying to make the highest possible grades in my other classes to make up for it. Also, my first semester GPA was 3.5.
Many med schools require or at least strongly recommend one semester of calculus and one semester of statistics (non-calculus version is OK), so you should factor in your expected grades in these math classes and their prerequisites.
