Hello, new member, first time posting on a forum of any kind, and only recently began to think seriously about college.

I'm a sophomore in high school who's in all honors classes, but I'm only barely managing to pass right now. I did fine in freshman year in all academic classes with mostly A's and 2 B's, but this year, I'm getting mostly B's and in the 2nd marking period, I got C's in algebra II and chemistry. I'm in the middle of the 3rd marking period and my math, science, and history grades are currently in the C range, math sitting on the border of becoming a D. I'm panicking because before all that, I never got a C in my life. I still have time to bump up history, but I don't know about algebra and chem. I learned my lesson and applied for academic pre-calculus and physics for next year, but how badly will these affect my chances for colleges?

I'm not aiming for Ivy League, but I don't want to go anywhere considered flat-out mediocre. I'm also considering an English major, so does it really matter how I do in math and science as long as my English grades are good? So far this year both my averages in honors English are B+ (89's...ugh) and my final average for freshman year in academic was a solid A. Also, if I work harder in my junior and senior year and improve my grades back to A's and B's, would this be enough to improve my chances? I heard that upward curves look really good, but for me it looks like I went downward from freshman year...
