How beneficial is the "AP International Diploma" as an award?

How much do colleges value the AP International Diploma granted by CollegeBoard? I'm considering my Junior year AP classes and if I want to qualify for the said award, I would have to reconsider my choice of AP classes. I would have to self-study AP Lang and AP Human Geography on my own(or with a tutor). I would also probably have to take AP French(my first language) rather than studying Chinese(something I enjoy but am currently in one of the lowest levels). Would you guys advise me to reschedule my courses and take up extra lessons in order to get that award? Hopefully I wouldn't have to drop any of the APs I'm interested in. Either way, is the award worth it? How much will colleges care if I have the diploma or not?

I think I should mention that I don't have many impressive ECs or awards at all as of right now. Also I moved to China last year and it's kinda hard to find summer internships or volunteer work around here.

Um has this question being asked already before? I couldn’t find any when I looked it up with search so yeah. self-bump.

On the other thread you said you studied Japanese, and here you say you study Chinese, errrr…!!!

Anyway if French is your first language you would not have to take AP French during the year. You could study a little on your own to know the test’s structure, review your conjugation and you’d be good to go.

maybe Japanese & Chinese are two brothers :stuck_out_tongue: .

Seconding what MYOS1634 said re: French. I was in French Immersion, and didn’t prepare at all for the AP exam itself (AP French was for FSL students) – easy 5.
