How big a deal is legacy?

My mom attended Dartmouth and my sister will be a freshman this year. How big a deal is this if I am applying RD.

Dartmouth loves legacies. It will help you. That said, if you don’t have the grades and the scores, it won’t get you in by itself. But if you have the grades and the scores, it will definitely be to your advantage.

(Husband is an alum; son is now a sophomore.)

Some kids don’t want to live their parent’s lives, so they may choose to go to college elsewhere.

i know a lot of legacy’s in my class. with that said you have to still be smart/do well in school, i was a legacy at two otehr schools and I ended up getting waitlisted.

bahrain321,do u go to IKNS?

Im not actually from bahrain, i just picked a name that noone could trace back to me.

If you want legacy to count in your favor, apply ED. RD will not give you a huge boost unless your mom has been donating.
