How big a difference does it make for transfers?

if you applied and was rejected in freshman year, how big is that going to affect you when you apply for transfer the year after? will the result be the same?

I got denied my Senior year as a Freshman at Georgetown, then got in as a transfer for Sophomore year. I figure, it can only help that you applied before, at least it shows you are consistant and still haven't given up on the school.

Depends. Some schools purge their records every year so they might not even know. I called a school asking if they kept my SAT scores on file so I wouldn't have to pay for them to be sent again, and they informed me that they had no record of me on file. I know on some application forms they might ask, but some don't specifically ask if you were admitted/rejected.

Rejected Columbia ED senior year with a 4.0 and 1440 SAT, rejected Columbia transfer with 4.0 gpa in college. Didn't make a difference for me.
