that is the size of my dorm room.

well a 10' x 12' room is 120 sq feet. is that what you were asking?

Not very. .

It's 17,280 square inches.

The average child's room at home is about 120 square feet. So just think, the amount of room will equal 120 of those 1x1 tiles you see in schools, offices, etc.

Let me rephrase.. it's not very big for a double, but it is a nice-sized single.

EDIT: So I just measured my room, it is about 140 square feet. My dorm is 10' x 12' as well I believe.. can't believe I will be in a smaller room with an extra person. I honestly have a hard time imaging sharing my room with another person, but that's probably because my room is a mess.

10 x 12 would be a decent size for a single. The single I had was TINY.. my parent's walk in closet was bigger than my dorm room. I believe my room was 8 x 10.

You guys are lucky. My double is 7 x 10. And that's actually bigger than most in the building. The smallest I believe is 7 x 8 - and they are all doubles.

Heh i feel really lucky with my 12x19 double.

You get used to the small space.

It's not so bad, since its just a place to sleep in.

...wow. and i thought my 180 ft2 double freshman year was a bit cramped!

this does remind me of a pretty amusing story, though. i was having a conversation with a grandfather (and bucknell alum) while his grandson was attending a mock class during 'accepted students day' in spring '05 when he asked about the current dorm preferences on campus, wondering how they had changed since he had attended. about halfway down my list of the 'good' dorms for upperclassmen his eyes lit up. he was absolutely shocked that i had just mentioned the dorm i had, as he had roomed there (much to his chagrin) as a freshman. it took me a second to realize the source of his confusion, and i couldnt help but smile when i did. his 9x14 jail cell had not only been completely renovated (twice) since his graduation... but long ago had also been converted into a single.

upon hearing this information the grandfathers face became lifeless. and perhaps three seconds later he uttered two words under his breath: 'spoiled brats.'

It's considerably smaller than the minimum legal size for a prison cell. But at least you have the option to leave and return.

it's a single...

i suppose 120sqft is pretty decent. i better elevate my bed and what not though.

I knew a guy who was stuck in a double that had originally been a storage room. The letters "STORAGE" were still on the door. It was tiny. And one night we had four people sleeping in there.

So, 15 x 16 is pretty sweet for a double?

I got a single that's 153.5 square feet, so ha! And I got it at 1/3 the rate that everyone pays for a double.

Big enough. I love my dorm room and it's about that size, maybe slightly smaller.

EDIT: It's a single? That's big enough then for sure. This dorm is a double. We've had more than 10 people in here and it was fine. We've had 7 sleep in here at once.....

singles are lame. if you cant learn to live with some1, go be a monk.

I've had a twin brother who i've had to share a room with for 18 years. Don't tell me I don't know how to live with someone.
