I want to bring down my 27" flat this semester, but my family thinks it'll be a pain to transport and is too big for a dorm room. Im bringing it anyway, but Im just curious what t.v.'s everyone else is using.

27 inches? Have you lost your mind? You don't need such a large t.v. set in your room. Most dorm rooms are small, 150 square feet tops for a double occupancy, and most of that space will be taken up by your and your roomate's beds, dressers and desks. Not to mention you'll also need space for a computer (if you have one), your books, a lamp, chair, a mini-fridge etc. You'll be lucky if you have 10 square feet of your own space in your dorm room.

Most dorm students have a 13 inch t.v. set in their rooms, which is small enough to fit on a desk or atop a dresser. A 13 inch t.v. set is also easier to ship back home after the school year is over with. But a 27 inch t.v. set would not fit in your dorm room period, and would be difficult to ship back home at the end of the year.

Depends on where you're going to school and the dorm set-up. My S. and his roommate have a two-room suite and could easily accommodate that 27" flatscreen. In one of the rooms, they have a sofa, la-z-boy, fridge, and a large corner for their media equipment. He just got a PS3 for his birthday and would KILL for that 27" flat if it was HD. I guess his 19" doesn't do that PS3 justice...lol.

I have a 28 inch TV in my dorm room and it fits fine. A large TV is the best for when everyone is watching a movie together or you get together to play a few video games. It is so much better than looking at a 13 inch (?) TV. I didn't even know people got them that small.

I've got a 24 inch TV... it fits fine and works great.

I have a 13''. It takes up 1/2 of my dresser, and there's no way I could fit anything bigger in my room. However, the room I hope to have next year has a little area that's like a sitting room, and the people in there now have a big TV.

I aint got the time to watch TV so I dont have one.

I don't have one. I've just never really watched TV.

(My roommate had a really small one at the beginning of last semester, but then she moved out).

If you have a desktop, get a 15'-17' LCD monitor that also functions as a tv set. Saves space.

I don't have a TV either. I love not having one, seriously.

I have a 20" television set. It's about the biggest I can fit in my dorm room. If you get too big of a television set, you might create an environment for inviting your hallmates, creating a distractive environment for studying.

I brought a 13" for my roomie and I to share. The room was smaller than I expected it to be after everything was unpacked, so that size is perfect. There would be no place for a bigger one. I guess if you have a two room suite then could accomodate a bigger tv, but if you have a standard 12x12 room for two, which is most common for freshman, then a 13" is the way to go, if you even want one. I know of people like BookAddict and gianscolere1 that get along fine without a tv.

We have a 27'' and it's great

"If you have a desktop, get a 15'-17' LCD monitor that also functions as a tv set. Saves space."

Seconded. I have a 19" flat panel LCD multi-function monitor. Picture in picture is a wonderful thing.

same...i watch cable Tv on our 13", but hardly ever...i always watched DVDs on my 19" moniter, and im coming back to school stocked with new ones and a $40 gift card to amazon.com

i know people at other colleges with 24", but our room is too cramped by two sets of closets, sink, two beds, two desks, ect for anything but a 13"...i definently want to go for a bigger one next year though

32" lcd on the wall.

Mine is 20 inches. It's plenty big but I know these guys downstairs that have like a 52 in or something. It's ridiculously big but it's pretty awesome to watch movies on.

I have a 20 inch flat screen, I could accomodate up to 35 probably. The size i have is good enough though.

65?in although it is a shared tv

we aren't allowed to watch TV, that privilege only belongs to first classmen.
