How big of a grave have I dug for myself?

I'm a sophomore and I've wanted to go to ND since about seventh grade. I had a really rough transition into high school and got 3 C+'s each semester my freshman year in a very tough school. However, I've really rebounded sophomore year and my grades are much, much better, and I plan to keep it that way. Will ND see my upward curve or will they just see a bunch of C's freshman year? Thanks in advance for your answers.

ND will notice the Cs but I think they value improvement more than anything. I wouldn’t say you are out of the running but you need to make sure and have solid semesters from here on out and back it up with strong ectracurriculars. Good luck.

ok…first i’ll give you the dimension of your grave…
6ft x 3ftx2.5ft.
Well apart from this…
I think they will surely consider your upward trend…And nothing to worry about…admission process is a lot more than grades…so keep calm…

OP - can you elaborate on “very tough school”?

I got a couple Cs in french in my first two years, had about a 3.9 last year, 34 act, and got in.

Theres hope for you yet.

Perhaps when the major heat of this admissions cycle dies down (sometime after April) perhaps email your counselor (adcoms are listed on the website) and get email the adcom that reads for your area. Send them a note about your interest and how much you feel as though you’ve improved in the year and why your freshman grades are not an accurate representation of your abilities…or something like that ;)

Good luck!
