<p>Colleges say they don’t place much emphasis on standardized tests, but think about it for a second. How else are they supposed to judge ur academics? Grades are inflated, and ranking high in the class often has much to do with taking easy A/weighted courses. Standardized tests aren’t perfect, but it’s all colleges have!</p>

<p>Logically though, I don’t the SAT matters as much as it did before. I may be viewing this matter with rose-colored glasses, but don’t you think the amount of SAT tutors/prep books/courses somewhat devalues a high score on the SAT?
^Really? Oh… I may have had somewhat of a better teacher because we covered logs before, but generally my math class was screwy.</p>

<p>No, I mean currently there isn’t anything that can replace it, but it’s probably not as big a factor as before when students didn’t have so many resources available to them if they had money/time, and wanted to prepare for it.</p>

<p>I mean to say, I think the SAT is now more of a matter of whether or not you’re proficient at taking tests, not so much as a 2350 is that much better than a 2250.</p>

<p>^I think that if you show improvement, like take the SAT as a 10th grader, get a 2150, take it as a 11th grader, get a 2250, colleges will realize that your score will probably go up again the next time. Therefore, if that’s the case, I don’t think there is too much of a difference.</p>

<p>^^ Exactly. I know there’s a thread called “Tips from a 2400er” or something on the SAT Prep boards, and the thing is that person spent SO much time prepping for the SAT (or at least it looks like it), that I honestly do not think that it was worth it. </p>

<p>^That might have been what Whheex meant… Hm. Yeah, I think if you take it without studying in between, that a natural increase might be best. But who in their right mind wouldn’t study for the SAT? If even just glancing at the format, etc.</p>
