what is "apply for undecided?"

i am VERY decided: wharton haha.

You DO realize that none of those links work...oris it just my computer?

Anyways, that is the single most "laundry list" EC list I've ever seen.

i gotta renew the domain name

You know Chanman, you could be spending all this time on your studies rather than sitting around and posting on this forum. No more excuses! Just a thought. =)

TTG

oh, school is over.

and it doesnt really take much time for me to post lol
coz i type really fast

actually, i read on my desk
and then, like every 5-10 minutes i'll just click refresh and see what pops up haha

what is your SAT I score?

You seem to have a fine chance at Wharton, assuming the SAT is good. But Wharton is like HYPS...don't count on it.

But come on people...he has worked very hard and accomplished many things. Don't crush his dreams...he has a legit shot at Wharton.

Yes, he should apply to Wharton and wherever else he likes, just add another match school.

Chanman, I just have one question. Do you ever sleep?

my SAT score is 1100 old 1700 new. <<will not put it down on my application, even though they'll see it.

ACT is 32. <<submitting this. RETAKE!~!!
SAT IIs
750 math II, RETAKE
730 Us history
700 Bio RETAKE
and will take Math I

hopefully i'll do 750+ in math I and an 800 in Math II. I just need to study Math II b4 i take it lol

yes i sleep
around 12~1 oclock
but i have to wake up for 0 hour at 6:30
and during swim season i wake up at 5 because there are stupid CRAPPY MORNING PRACTICES

I don't like to comment on people's chances because I feel like only the adcom knows what really goes on. But I can't help but add my 2 cents. Your ECs are all over the place, and the ones that you have leadership roles in (quizbowl and chess club) aren't that impressive. The inconsistency with your grades and testing would definitely be a concern to me. Like someone else said, you have to think about the pool of applicants you are competing with - they are going to be really strong and consistent academically and have done very well in a few select but impressive ECs. I would focus more on NYU Stern or UMich Ross if you really want to do business.

quiz bowl and chess club are NOT leadership positions by the way

they are more like awards. 'captain' is automatically awarded to the most dedicated and powerful player on the team. it has nothing to do with leading anything in real life..

how can it be a leadership position?
u just go and play quiz bowl . maybe organize the team a little..
But we got 3rd in State...i dont see how that is not impressive.

i wouldn't consider chess club a leadership either. i just founded it and i announce it on the announcements and we play games.

u want an impressive EC?
my lion dance team.
fundraised thousands and thousands for the school
we go out and perform
but i consider that leadership (quiz bowl is not) because i have to communicate with sponsors/restaurants/museums/whoever wants a performance...then i have to set up deals and contact the performers and order supplies and stuff
and we are currently considered the #1 team in st. louis! (we are killing out the other school this year)
hopefully we'll get our 45 min interview with the news...then i can say it is true success lol
^ that is leadership. not quiz bowl game or chess...

i guess the Senior Technology thing can be leadership too
because i have to set up with nursing homes and manage times/schedules of when the student teachers go to teach old ppl computers

sry lol, i just get itchy when people say that "captain" is leadership when it really isnt (at our school at least)

...They rank your lion dance team? Are you sure lion dancing is gonna get you into Wharton? :-/

EDIT: Whoa, post #1000...awesome

they don't "rank".

but in a st. louis post dispatch newspaper it says like "Now considered the top team in.."
or something

but no, i'm not going to put that on my application resume. because it's not official
it was just a side idea i decided to put down in case i wanna go back and find it as proof or something

i'm NOT saying my lion dance team is getting me into wharton lol!

None of your links work...still.

http://24.107.104.228/main.php ???

chanman,
is one of your potential recommenders familiar with your lion dance team? My son's drama and robotics advisors were also his teachers - so he got double duty out of those rec's. If your lion dance team is entirely outsite of school, you might want to consider sending in an additional req from an adult leader. I think its pretty cool, myself.

entire ly outside of school haha

yes, i am thinking about sending a rec from my st. louis chinese school principle (me and him are like pals!)

but i'm afraid..too manyYYY

because, they require 2 ACADEMIC teachers

1 ap bio teacher
2. ap lang OR a 12th grade teaher next year

^MUST

Orchestra teacher <<Extra..I NEED THIS!! <<i'm going to send this in.

chinese school principle talking about my volunteer work.

i'm debating between 3 and 4
since i can only send 1 in.

but, i can always tell teachers to mention it in their recs. coz they know about my activities.

why did you put all the dashes in cafefully?

You seem to get very defensive when anyone suggests finding more match- type schools. The fact is, Wharton is a far reach for anyone, and the cold hard facts are that your grades are not top- notch in that applicant pool and that your EC's are all over the place. There's absolutely nothing you can do to change that at this point (believe me, I wish I could go back now and change a LOT, haha). Still, you're a very strong applicant at a number of schools, if you would only give those schools a look. By all means, apply to Wharton; you never know. But really research some solid matches that you'd love to attend. And use this summer to write really well- thought out essays that you feel give a good snapshot of you as a person. As the cliche goes: you can't change what's in the past, so focus on what you can do about the future.

wharton - match. wow.
How fascinating. I'd love to say that too!

chanman
you may want to send in an 'updates' letter with your midyear grades - additional awards, an extra rec letter, etc.

And add another couple of match schools to your list.
