How can Guilani get the nod?

I think the Republicans are just using him to get the Liberals' votes.

About 9/11, he was just in the "right place at the "right time."

"About 9/11, he was just in the "right place at the "right time."'

Yeah, he was in the right place at the right time. And its a good thing. Compare the way he handled NYC after 9/11 to the way Ray Nagin handled New Orleans after Katrina. Granted, it wasn't all Nagin's fault, but the guy could have done more for his people.

It's not fair of you to compare 9/11 to Katrina.

"It's not fair of you to compare 9/11 to Katrina."

If Nagin was on par with Giuliani, why wasn't he called "America's Mayor" or picked Time Magazine Person of the year (not counting the issue where everyone was person of the year)?

Katrina = worst natural disaster in U.S. history

9/11 = worst attack on U.S. soil in U.S. history

Both were very tough situations and unprecedented. However, Giuliani handled his crisis much better than Nagin handled his.

Unlike Nagin, who had to deal with hundreds of thousands of people w/o homes (granted, Nagin didn't do that great of a job) - what really did Guiliani have to deal with?

Look at Bush - pretty much everyone thinks he did a good job of rallying the American public (minus the first minute of so where he was catatonic in that classroom) - so if Bush can do it...
