I know how to do everything on the test. But when I took the SAT in January, I missed 3 math questions and my score plunged. I know it was because I was getting tired and restless.

Does anybody have any tips on how to avoid this and stay sharp throughout the test?

Does that mean you got great scores on CR and Writing? Personally, I feel that CR is the most time consuming, then Writing, then math. If you know how to do the math problems, they'll take you less than 30 seconds to do (which gives you an extra 30 seconds to do another problem, if you average 1 min/ prob).

A big part is focus, perhaps try some exercises, for example, meditation?

oh and during your break make sure you eat something that won't spike up your insulin, resulting in a sugar crash. Fruit would probably be a better alternative to cookies.

If you know the effects of a given amount of caffeine on your body moderately well, dose yourself with nodoz, which you'll sneak into the testing site (though caffeine can't be a restricted substance due to various FDA regs).

For the SAT II administration when I took 3 tests, I took one nodoz 1 hour in, and a half before the third test. I've got a moderate caffeine tolerance though and I'm a pretty big guy.

It would be SUPER bad to take all of them before the start of the first test. Basically, a low, constant amount is better than a huge dose which then makes you crash.

Also, if gum is allowed (and I'm pretty sure it is) chew it. It helped me, at least. Fruit's probably bad, because fructose is still a sugar, and you can still crash. Stick to a small amount of fruit and a whole grain something, like a granola bar.

^Yeah, sounds about right. I took the SAT 1 3months ago in June and I slept literally 0 hours the night before the SAT (for some reason I couldn't sleep and lay moving around all night). To wake myself up I took 2 concentrated shots of an energy drink, which made me feel like dying during and after the test lol.

yep
1 . practice everyday . 1 day 1 test or 2 tests
2 . sleep enough the day before.
3. Eat sth that helps you gain back energy . I recommend banana ^ ^
