I am currently in my first semester at a community college. I am attending due to the fact, that while I am an intelligent person, my form of rebellion in high school was getting poor grades, something ended up hurting me. I am going to major in English and Spanish, and possibly(POSSIBLY) minor in Russian or another non-Latin based language. I came across Kenyon in my college search a few months ago, and it is my perfect school. I would really like to be able to transfer to Kenyon to begin my second year, but if I am not accepted this year, I will stay on to get my AA degree and ensure that I will accepted in terms of extracurriculars and grades.

I graduated high school with a 2.88 GPA, and a 25 on the ACT. However, I received 30s on the Reading and English portions, and my score was brought down by the 17 on the Math section and the 20 on the Science section. I will take the ACT again until I get the score I need. I may also take the SAT.

In high school, I did one year of JV tennis. I did 3 years of Speech, and was given an Outstanding Nomination at All-State Speech in the category of After Dinner Speaking and performed there. I did Academic Decathalon my senior year and received awards at both Regional and State competitions for my speech, my interview, my essay, and was also the 2nd Place Overall for Varsity Small School at Regionals for the test-taking portion. I went on a mission trip to Chicago with my church, and a Spanish class trip to Guatemala and Belize. I also organized an Open Mic Night to raise money for a child sponsored by my Spanish class.

The courses I am currently enrolled in are Applied Voice (voice lesson one hour per week), College Writing (a compilation of two composition classes), College 101 (a course aimed toward incoming freshmen to help with success in college), and Prep for College Math (an online based math class to help me get into a math class that will count as degree credit).

I am applying for a job at the school newspaper. I am currently working on pieces to submit to literary magazines, including my school's.

I know that the Early Decision application deadline is in November and Regular Decision is in January. What can I do to make sure that I will have an incredible chance of being accepted?
