I was admitted to Cal's College of Letters and Science, but now I want to change my major to Molecular Cell Biology.

I got a 5 on my AP Bio, Chem, and Calc AB test. However, I haven't taken Organic Chemistry, Physics, and one Calc Class required for this major.

Is there any way I can declare MCB as my major, even if I have to graduate later? Do I have to declare a major by my junior year, or can I wait a year to take lower division courses, adn graduate later?

well the problem here is the time limit that they give you.

Berkeley requires that once you transfer you graduate in two years, or so i heard. Or i think you can stay but you can’t go over 135 units, so if you can do it then sure.

Does anyone actually have a link to where it says the max units? If I get accepted there, I would like to major in EEP and minor in City Planning. I don’t see how I would be able to do that in under 2 1/2- 3 Years.

goldlion, you’re probably going to have to withdraw and take those classes at community college. At Cal So, they told us that if you want to change your major but you haven’t completed the prerequisites you’ll likely have to withdraw and take most of them at community college so that you won’t hit the unit cap. If you don’t declare your major junior year, they’ll put registration blocks so that you can’t pick classes.

UCHopeful: here’s the unit cap for L&S

Wait, I’m confused. Do CC units count in the unit cap? What about nontransferable classes from community college?

What if I want to double major, and that forces me to stay for more than 8 semesters total?
