How can I find out my chances of transferring?

I have been looking around at various college sites (collegeboard.com, etc) looking for information about colleges' transfer admissions. Is there anywhere that I can find out what kind of grades/classes/extra-curricular activities I have to have in order to be a competitive transfer applicant at various colleges?

Unless the college website tells you what they look for in transfer applicants there's not really any specific info out there. Though you could call the school and speak with someone who you can ask about such things.. but a good thing to do is post your stats here, gpa, sat/act score, and ec's, as well as what school and major you're trying to get into. Then other people who attend or have attended that school or are trying to get into that school can chance you (as well as other generally knowledgeable people on this board). The more popular schools usually already have a dedicated thread for such discussions. Good luck!

Most colleges say that you need a 3.0 to be a competitive applicant....but if you're a 3.5 or higher I'd say you're golden.

If you search each college website...you'll get an idea of what classes are required for transfer. It's also a good idea to contact the admissions office if some college you're looking at.

College Board has some limited information on transfer admissions. USN&WR, Premium Online Edition, also has some. You can also look at Transfer Acceptance Rates threads on this forum. As stated above, some college's websites give information on transfer applicants. And, I agree, you can post "chances" threads. If you do, please take responses with a grain of salt and try to sort out responses from those with experience with a given college vs. those just shooting from the hip.

Finally, and probably best, you can search Common Data Set for each college. Some are easy to find; some not so much. These will have more detailed data.
