I am a rising senior,so I'm going to apply to colleges next year. However,I have some trouble in deciding what schools are the ''fit'' for me.

What determines a school is a fit for you? (besides the academic factors, like SAT/ACT scores,GPA,rank, etc)

The best way is to visit and see how it feels. Fit is psychological as well.

Check out some books from the library about choosing colleges and flip through them–you don’t have to read them all. There are lots of “fit” categories. One biggie to start with is price–what can your family afford. You need to talk with your parents about that one. Then there are things like big/small; geographic location; close to home/new part of the country; athletics emphasis; academic rigor; urban/rural; what schools are known to be strong in the subjects you’re interested in; boy/girl ratio, etc.

You should make a list of qualities your “dream school” would be, and try to research colleges that reasonably “fit” that list! Of course, there may not be a specific school that fits all of your criteria, but it should be close.

Also, I really recommend the Princeton Review website’s “Best FIt College Search” to find a college that really matches up. I’ve found it really helpful, and I was referred to it by a mother whose son used it, was matched up to Middlebury College, and was admitted too! Plus he’s really happy there. So yeah. In case my link doesn’t turn up right, visit their site, click on college on the front page tab, and then on “Schools and majors” on the left hand tabs. The link will be in the center.

[Colleges and Majors](College Major Search | College Majors List | The Princeton Review)

Good luck!

Definitely visit the colleges you are interested in. Visit visit visit. And when you visit, get out of your car, wander around, sit in on classes, and talk to students. Try to get the “real” story about what goes on on-campus, not all the stuff in the admissions info.

Um… The Fashion Institute of Technology is the only fit I’m aware of at the moment.

Zinokey i love you :P
